San Francisco institutions for over 100 years, Golden Gate Theatre and Orpheum Theatre opened in the 1920’s as a vaudevilles houses and later major movie theaters.
Restored and reopened as performing arts venues in the 1970’s, the theaters are listed as Historic Places.
Golden Gate Theatre and the San Francisco Orpheum are owned by BroadwaySF which primarily presents Broadway shows such as Hamilton, Sweeney Todd, Stomp, Hairspray, Mamma Mia!, Chicago, Rent and Wicked.

All Star Weekend is coming to San Francisco!
for The Art of the Game - a truly historic event celebrating this year's All Stars plus the Golden State Warriors' all-time greats on the Wall of Warriors. See 50+ pieces of amazing basketball art by 21 talented Bay Area artists.
This exhibit runs throughout the NBA's All Star Weekend, from Friday February 14th through Sunday February 16th, noon to 8pm daily. Tickets are on a sliding scale basis and can be purchased in advance. All proceeds go to the artists and community-based producers of this labor of love.
The Art of the Game is produced by SoleSpace Lab, a nonprofit arts incubator connecting existing and emerging artists in the Bay Area with opportunities to grow our region's creative economy. This is their fifth basketball art-themed exhibit, in addition to 700+ events produced since 2012, featuring partners ranging from Vans and Jack Daniels, to ESPN and Grammy award- winners Lauryn Hill, Fantastic Negrito, and Alphabet Rockers.

Market Street Arts presented UNSTAGED, a free, interactive, live performance experience on Market Street in collaboration with over 150+ local artists, 15 neighborhood businesses, and a variety of supporting partners & organizations.
Unstaged features an F Train takeover, live bands & DJs, buskers and makers, immersive soundscapes, cooking classes, interactive art carts, vertical performances, lip sync contests and other interactive art exhibits.
"This isn't just another activation; it's a targeted celebration of what makes Mid-Market special—its deep-rooted live performance,” said Steve Gibson, Executive Director of the Mid-Market Foundation, Market Street Arts. “By focusing on live performance, we're leaning into Mid-Market's unique strengths and history. We hope UNSTAGED. will encourage the creative spark that has always defined this district and use it to drive economic revitalization and community engagement."
UNSTAGED marks a distinctive new chapter in Market Street Arts' ongoing commitment to revitalize San Francisco's Mid-Market neighborhood, propelling it forward as a world-class arts and entertainment district. UNSTAGED joins a citywide effort to energize downtown through arts and culture, and stands out with its laser focus on live performance—a nod to Mid-Market's storied history as the city's premier entertainment district.

Visual art curated by CounterPulse will be on exhibit and for sale at one of the JCDecaux Kiosks each Friday & first Thursday at Market & Sixth Streets. Art enthusiasts and passersby are encouraged to stop by and explore local art and potentially take home a new peice.
The CounterPulse TenderArts Program is also inviting artists to apply to exhibit and sell their work at this kiosk. CounterPulse will be showcasing visual artists to exhibit and sell their work at the kiosk any Friday 1-5pm from now through September 2025

Join Psyched! Radio for a FREE outdoor show with Y La Bamba at UN Plaza this Sunday, November 3rd, as part of Psyched! Fest 2024! Originally planned for the UC Theatre, this highly anticipated performance has moved to the vibrant outdoor setting of UN Plaza.
Starting at 1 PM, Y La Bamba will bring their captivating blend of Latin folk, electronica, and cumbia to the heart of San Francisco. Also performing is Kiltro, adding their unique sound to this cultural celebration. The afternoon will feature a DJ set by Lizzy Al Toque to keep the energy flowing between performances.

Running weekly through September, Hip Hop On the Plaza features a dynamic lineup of programming, including weekly dance workshops and bi-monthly dance battles that will transform UN Plaza into a hub of creative expression and community engagement. BRUJAS held their fifth Anti-Prom this summer with an OUTDOOR party at the UN Plaza Skate Park, on June 22nd.
Skate gang “BRUJAS” joined art heroes Le Vanguard in the name of DIY cultural power, this time in the queer heart of downtown San Francisco at the newly renovated UN Plaza Skate Park.
Vayda headlined this fifth annual celebration of ANTI PROM, with a special apperance by the Bay’s own Aroma. This party is notoriously dedicated to women and queer skaters, rap heads, club aficionados, and anybody who was ever kicked out of anything. With a history of venue experimentation and carefully curated co-hosts and artists ( hosted by Princess Nokia in 2016, Gypsy Sport in 2017 headlined by Yaeji and Cardi B, RedBull Music Festival in 2018 headlined by Young MA, and in 2019 with Maliibu Miitch ) Anti Prom continues a promising celebration of queer art and life!
Anti Prom was presented in partnership with Market Street Arts, San Francisco Office of Economic & Workforce Development, and SF Recreation & Parks.

Tenderloin Music & Arts Festival

Psyched! Radio in the TL & Mid-Market! The Tenderloin Music and Arts Festival 2024 was a free 3-day concert festival held throughout San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, at venues including: Edinburgh Castle, Phoenix Hotel, Moth Belly Gallery, Kayo Books, The Tenderloin Museum and UN Plaza.
All of these 12 shows were completely FREE and all of the bands, musicians, acts, drag queens, poets, DJs and writers are LOCAL. Psyched! Radio believes deeply in supporting the San Francisco and Oakland music and art scenes.
This festival was held in partnership with Market Street Arts, the Tenderloin CBD, San Francisco Office of Economic & Workforce Development, SF Recreation & Parks.
Spring Break ‘24: Stevenson Takeover

Bargain Rock’s Spring Break took over Stevenson Street for the first time ever. Just a block south of Market, Stevenson between 6th & 7th turned into a Spring Break ‘24 venue, on April 27th in partnership with Market Street Arts.
The event featured cool vendors and musicians from Sacramento to San Jose, and all points in between, including Nauseaters, Four Eyes, the Boars, the Teutonics and teen sensations, Geneva Powerhouse and DJs Jimmy Jaguar and Sharky.
Ages teen to rockasaur paid tribute to all the memories and sounds of Stevenson. From CRIME, Phantom Surfers, Poontang Wranglers, Other Music and the music and art made here.
